Kopel History
The Kopel's came to America in the early 1900's. Ferdynand Kopel, known also as Frand, lived in Austrian Silesia-then a part of
the Kingdom of Bohemia, itself a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire-a territory that is now a part of the Czech Republic.
He immigrated across the Atlantic in 1913 with his three sons, Frank, John and Joe. The remainder of his family-his wife Carolina
and his daughters remained in Bohemia.
Frank Fred Kopel, son of Ferdynand, married to Minnie Ellen Jones, who was of Irish and Dutch ancestry. They had five children,
Francis, Joe, Alfred, Rosalee and Dolores.
